The 54th anniversary celebration of Linden commenced with the official launch of Linden Town Week 2024.
Hosted by the Linden Municipality at the Bus Park, the opening ceremony of Linden Town Week featured vibrant cultural performances and honored individuals for their significant contributions to the town.
Mayor Sharma Solomon, addressing the audience, emphasized the significance of the theme for this year’s celebration: “We are One People, One Nation, One Destiny. Linden! The heart of Guyana.”
He expressed his vision for Linden’s future and urged everyone to participate in the array of activities planned for the eleven-day celebration, running from April 26 to May 6.
Regional Chairman Deron Adams also addressed the gathering, highlighting the economic benefits that Linden Town Week brings to the local community and encouraging residents to embrace the festivities.
Furthermore, the event recognized the achievements of students in Linden, including outstanding performances in essay writing, impromptu speeches, and the 2023 CSEC and CAPE examinations.
The launch of Linden Town Week 2024 marks the beginning of a period of cultural celebration, unity, and community engagement, showcasing the rich heritage and vibrant spirit of the mining town of Linden.
