By Josiah Williams

As Guyana’s tourism sector experiences rapid growth, the Correia Group of Companies is proactively enhancing its facilities and services to capitalize on this trend.

CEO Michael Correia shared updates on the enhancements at their Baganara resort, which now boasts upgraded amenities to accommodate more guests and larger events.

With features like a pool, improved internet connectivity, and solar power, the resort is better equipped to host conferences and weddings.

Moreover, Correia highlighted the importance of connectivity between neighboring countries in expanding tourism operations.

Starting in September, the Correia Group will introduce the Beech 1900 aircraft for flights to Suriname, offering a more comfortable and efficient travel option compared to existing aircraft.

Speaking at a CEO’s brunch at Baganara Island Resort, Correia emphasized the significance of strategic partnerships in the tourism sector.

The event saw the participation of leaders from Guyana and Suriname’s tourism and hospitality sectors.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Ramsaroop, Chief Investment Officer at GoInvest, outlined the incentives available for tourism operators.

These incentives include tax exemptions for constructing tourism facilities in designated regions and support for eco-resorts.

Ramsaroop underscored the government’s commitment to positioning Guyana as a premier tourism destination through substantial investments in infrastructure development.

Projects include the construction of world-class hotels and the upgrading of roads, airports, and seaports.

As Guyana’s tourism sector continues to flourish, the Correia Group’s initiatives and the government’s investments are set to further elevate the country’s appeal as a global tourism hotspot.
