Major Road Upgrades Planned for Sophia, Contracts Worth $1 Billion Signed

The communities of ‘A’, ‘C’, and ‘D’ Fields in Sophia are on the verge of significant transformation with the commencement of a major road construction project spanning approximately 8.7 kilometers.

Contracts totaling over one billion Guyanese dollars have been signed to undertake extensive road upgrades within the Sophia community, marking a significant step towards enhancing the area’s infrastructure and improving residents’ quality of life.

Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo revealed this development during a recent engagement with residents of the aforementioned fields.

The planned construction will see the installation of 29 concrete roads, totaling 8.7 kilometers in length, aimed at modernizing transportation infrastructure and facilitating smoother commutes for residents.

Dr. Jagdeo emphasized that these infrastructure upgrades represent just the beginning of a series of planned developments for the region.
