On Thursday, December 19, Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha led a Christmas toy drive across East and West Canje, Berbice, distributing toys to 2,500 children.
This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to spread holiday cheer and ensure that children nationwide experience the joy of receiving gifts during the festive season.
The distribution took place in Fort Ordinance, where toys were handed out to children from various communities, including Vryheid, Fort Ordinance Housing Scheme, Sandvoort, Canefield, Reliance, Adelphi, Gangaram, Betsy Ground, and Goed Banenen Land.
Minister Mustapha emphasized that the toy drive was a reflection of the government’s commitment to making Christmas brighter for every child in Guyana.
This effort aligns with the government’s wider initiative under the leadership of President Irfaan Ali, ensuring that all children, regardless of their location, receive gifts for Christmas.
The toy drive has been welcomed by residents, who appreciate the gesture that has added a touch of holiday spirit to the communities in the region.
