During two community outreach visits to Strathspey and Buxton on the East Coast of Demerara, President Dr. Irfaan Ali proposed new agricultural initiatives aimed at boosting local economies and fostering community development.
At Strathspey, President Ali identified the area’s mangrove forest as an ideal location for a honey production project.
He proposed the establishment of at least 50 hives, specifically targeting young people and women in the community.
This initiative is seen as an opportunity to harness local resources and create sustainable income through high-quality honey production.
In Buxton, the President emphasized the development of agricultural potential, particularly focusing on smart farming techniques and pig production.
He assured the community that the government is ready to support these ventures, which are designed to improve productivity and increase economic opportunities in the region.
Both projects are centered on empowering local communities by creating entrepreneurial opportunities for women and youth.
President Ali highlighted the importance of working closely with farmers, agriculture groups, and community members to ensure the successful implementation and growth of these initiatives.
These proposed projects represent a commitment to advancing agriculture and creating sustainable livelihoods for the people of Strathspey and Buxton.
