The Ministry of Housing and Water is preparing to present two new housing policies aimed at improving the living standards of citizens.
Minister Collin Croal shared that these policies are part of a larger national initiative to enhance homeownership opportunities and address housing quality.
One of the policies focuses on increasing access to safe, affordable, and adequate housing in communities with the necessary infrastructure.
This policy will prioritize providing citizens with quality homes in well-serviced areas, with input from ongoing stakeholder consultations.
A consultant is currently tasked with finalizing the housing policy, with plans to present the document to the Ministry soon.
The policy will build on existing programs and processes already implemented by the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA), incorporating feedback from citizens and stakeholders.
The second policy is geared toward community development, specifically aimed at preventing squatting.
This policy will be piloted in Region Three and is expected to tackle the issue of informal settlements while encouraging lawful land ownership.
Minister Croal expressed hopes that both draft policies will be presented to the cabinet in the near future.
