In the latest round of the Guyana Basketball Federation’s One Guyana National League, the Stabroek Eagles delivered a commanding performance, while the Worthmanville Pacesetters pulled off an impressive upset.
The first match of the night saw the Black Caimans face off against the Stabroek Eagles, with the latter emerging victorious with a resounding 100-51 win.
From the opening whistle, the Eagles set the pace, outscoring their opponents 23-17 in the first quarter.
By halftime, the Eagles had built a commanding 55-27 lead.
In the third quarter, the Caimans tried to mount a comeback but were thwarted by the Eagles’ defense, with the Eagles finishing the period 74-39.
The final quarter saw the Eagles in cruise control, adding another 26 points to their tally, while limiting the Caimans to just 12.
The game ended with the Eagles securing a comfortable 100-51 victory.
After the game, Eagles captain Travis Belgrave attributed the team’s success to strong ball pressure and key turnovers that set the tone early in the match.
He highlighted the team’s energy and cohesion as key factors in their dominant performance.
In the second game of the evening, the Worthmanville Pacesetters shocked the defending champions, North Ruimveldt Ravens, securing a narrow 63-58 win.
The Pacesetters’ victory was a stunning upset, as they managed to outplay the Ravens in a tightly contested match.
Action in the GBF One Guyana National League continues this weekend at the National Gymnasium.
