During a recent roundtable discussion on the US-Caribbean Partnership to Address the Climate Crisis 2030 (PACC 2030), Foreign Secretary Robert Persaud highlighted the crucial role of public and private sector collaboration in tackling climate change and achieving food and energy security.
Persaud stressed that for the PACC 2030 agenda to be effectively implemented, significant contributions from the private sector are necessary.
This partnership focuses on advancing climate adaptation, enhancing resilience, and promoting clean energy cooperation.
Key aspects of the agenda include investing in climate-smart agriculture, increasing renewable energy investments, and developing joint partnerships.
The Foreign Secretary underscored the urgency of this agenda, referencing recent experiences with Hurricane Beryl that have demonstrated the region’s vulnerability to climate impacts.
US Ambassador Nicole Theriot also contributed to the discussion, emphasizing that a resilient and sustainable future can only be achieved through collective efforts.
She assured that the United States is committed to supporting these goals.
The PACC 2030 initiative aims to align with the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals by promoting climate adaptation and resilience in the Caribbean region.
