Minister of Labour Joseph Hamilton Tours Training Programs in Region Six

On Monday, Minister of Labour Joseph Hamilton visited various programs facilitated by the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) in Region Six.

His visit was aimed at assessing ongoing initiatives and engaging with trainees participating in skill development programs designed to enhance their employability.

During his two-day tour, Hamilton expressed appreciation for the trainees’ commitment to advancing their skills.

He emphasized the importance of such programs in improving employment prospects and underscored the broader developmental impact they have on communities.

Hamilton also inspected a training institute currently under construction.

He highlighted the presence of two operational institutes: one in New Amsterdam and another in Corriverton.

The new facility is set to expand the range of training options available and accommodate more individuals seeking to improve their skills.

Earlier this month, close to 300 Berbicians received certification as Heavy-Duty Equipment Operators, thanks to a collaborative effort between BIT and the Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF) of the Ministry of Finance.

This achievement underscores the ongoing commitment to vocational training in the region.

The training program observed by Minister Hamilton covers a wide range of fields including Welding and Fabrication, Information Technology, Agro-Processing, Motor Mechanics, Cosmetology, A/C Repairs and Refrigeration, and Electrical Installation.

The diverse curriculum aims to equip participants with practical skills relevant to various industries.

Minister Hamilton reflected on the successful outcomes of the training programs, noting that hundreds of individuals, including a significant number of women, are benefiting from these initiatives.

He expressed satisfaction with the progress and reiterated the government’s commitment to continuing these efforts to support skill development and job creation.
