In a recent announcement by Cricket West Indies (CWI), Shemaine Campbelle and Ashmini Munisar have been named in the 15-member squad for the West Indies women’s team, set to participate in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in October.
The tournament will take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from October 3 to 20.
CWI President Dr. Kishore Shallow expressed his satisfaction with the team’s composition, highlighting the blend of experienced players and emerging talent.
Shallow is optimistic about the squad’s performance and believes they have the potential to excel in the competition.
Deandra Dottin, who had retired from international cricket in 2022, will rejoin the team for this World Cup.
Dottin, known for her record-setting century in women’s T20Is, had left due to dissatisfaction with team dynamics.
Shallow acknowledged the efforts to resolve the issues that led to her retirement and expressed appreciation for the discussions that brought her back.
Windies Women Head Coach Shane Deitz also spoke about the positive impact Dottin’s return could have on the team, emphasizing her experience and skill on the field.
The West Indies squad, captained by Hayley Matthews, is placed in Group B alongside Bangladesh, England, Scotland, and South Africa.
The team aims to perform well and secure a top position in the tournament.
