Health professionals are urging parents to ensure their adolescent children receive regular check-ups, highlighting the crucial role these visits play in promoting long-term well-being.
Access to appropriate health care during adolescence is essential in identifying potential health issues, preventing diseases, and addressing concerns like teenage pregnancy.
The Ministry of Health’s Acting Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Officer, Nurse Shawina Davis, noted that routine check-ups allow adolescents to maintain optimal health, rather than seeking care only when ill.
These services are readily available at local health centers across the country.
Adolescent Health Coordinator, Cilandell Glen, emphasized the need for adolescents to rely on professional medical advice, rather than solely on online resources.
While digital platforms provide helpful information, health centers remain the best source for accurate and personalized care.
In addition to clinical services, school health programs have been introduced in various regions, focusing on primary health care for children and adolescents.
These programs aim to provide accessible health services within the education system.
As part of ongoing efforts to support adolescent health, the Ministry of Health will soon launch a program aimed at preventing teenage pregnancies.
The Ministry will also observe Mental Health Day on October 10, focusing on the mental well-being of young people.
