By Eric Collymore

In an engaging third day of the second Test at Trent Bridge, England has taken a commanding position, leading by 207 runs as they look to shift the momentum back against the West Indies.

At stumps, England is well-placed at 248 for 3.

The West Indies, resuming from an overnight score of 351 for 5, were eventually bowled out for 457.

Wicket-keeper Joshua Da Silva played a crucial role, following strong performances from team-mates Alick Athanaze (82) and Kavem Hodge (121), with a half-century that guided the Caribbean side to a first-innings total and a lead of 41 runs over England.

Da Silva’s innings was bolstered by contributions from the lower order, including Shamar Joseph, who added 33 runs.

England’s Chris Woakes emerged as the standout bowler, claiming four wickets for 84 runs from 28 overs.

In response, the West Indies sought to build on their momentum but faced early setbacks as Zak Crawley was run out in England’s second over.

Despite this early loss, Ben Duckett (76) and Ollie Pope (51) stabilized the innings with a 127-run partnership before Pope was dismissed in the 26th over, courtesy of a delivery from Alzarri Joseph.

Duckett followed shortly after, leaving England at 140 for 3.

Joe Root (37) and Harry Brook (71) then added a significant 108-run partnership, helping England regain the advantage.

As the day concluded, England was firmly in control, leading by 207 runs with seven wickets remaining.

Alzarri Joseph led the bowling effort for the West Indies with figures of 2 for 58 from 12 overs.
