A maiden Test century by Kaveem Hodge has kept the West Indies firmly in contention for a series-levelling victory against England in the second Test at Trent Bridge.
At the end of day two, the West Indies are positioned at 351 for 5, trailing by just 65 runs.
After England was dismissed for 416 in 88.3 overs, the West Indies showed resilience with the bat.
Kaveem Hodge’s elegant stroke play was the highlight of the day, earning him his first Test century.
Hodge’s innings of 121 runs, including 19 boundaries, was crucial as he partnered with Alick Athanaze in a formidable 175-run stand.
Athanaze also contributed significantly with a composed 82 runs before falling to England’s captain Ben Stokes.
Earlier in the innings, West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite and opener Mikyle Louis put up some resistance.
Louis was dismissed for 21 in the 15th over, while Brathwaite scored a solid 48.
As play resumes on day three, Jason Holder is at the crease on 23, joined by wicket-keeper Joshua DaSilva, who is on 32.
England’s bowlers faced a challenging day in the field, with spinner Shoaib Bashir taking 2 wickets for 100 runs, and fast bowlers Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, and Ben Stokes each claiming one wicket.
