Two Guyanese Learning Institutions Awarded Accreditation by National Accreditation Council

The National Accreditation Council recently conferred certificates of accreditation upon The College of Excellence, Management and Business, and The Art Williams & Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School.

The ceremony, though simple, held significant importance as it recognized these institutions for providing world-class education.

Dr. Marcel Hutson, Executive Director of the National Accreditation Council, expressed that this accreditation is a positive development for Guyana, emphasizing that institutions should operate within the established legal and quality standards set by the council and the Ministry of Education.

He highlighted the significance of ensuring education delivery aligns with expectations.

Representatives from the College of Excellence, Management and Business (C.E.M.B) and the Art Williams & Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School (AWHWAES) also shared their thoughts on this achievement.

Dr. Stanley Paul, Principal of C.E.M.B, encouraged other Guyanese institutions to seek accreditation, emphasizing that recognition or registration is the minimum requirement, while accreditation speaks to the validity of degrees and international acceptance.

Nalini Chanderban, Accountable Manager at AWHWAES, explained the meaningfulness of accreditation, bridging the gap between technical training under the Civil Aviation Authority and academic recognition.

The NAC accreditation equips students with a level 6 associate degree, providing a pathway for those aspiring to pursue higher education in aviation management.

The accreditation certificates affirm that these institutions offer quality education and possess the institutional integrity necessary for self-evaluation and self-direction toward continuous improvement.

The National Accreditation Council anticipates more institutions will follow suit, contributing to ongoing enhancements in Guyana’s educational system.
