Detractors’ attempts to sow division within the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) during its 32nd Congress were futile, according to General Secretary of the party, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo.

He emphasized that the party remains unified and will not tolerate any efforts to tarnish its image or reputation.

During the congress, Dr. Jagdeo addressed concerns raised in an opinion piece published in a national newspaper, which suggested that the PPP used its press conferences to criticize the opposition and civil society.

Dr. Jagdeo dismissed these claims, reaffirming the party’s commitment to constructive criticism and open dialogue.

Despite predictions of confusion and conflict during the congress, Dr. Jagdeo asserted that detractors failed in their attempts to disrupt the proceedings.

He highlighted the congress as a resounding success, with over 40 workshops addressing critical issues and exploring potential solutions.

Throughout the televised activities of the congress and the workshops, the PPP demonstrated its unity and dedication to addressing the challenges facing Guyana.

Dr. Jagdeo emphasized the party’s commitment to effective governance and equitable distribution of resources for the benefit of all Guyanese.

As the PPP continues to lead the nation forward, Dr. Jagdeo reaffirmed the party’s unwavering commitment to serving the people and advancing the country’s development agenda.
