Guyana National Bureau of Standards Prepares Officers for 901 Certification Programme

By Fabiana Mcklmon

In October 2023, the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) introduced its 901 Quality Management System, aimed at supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

Currently, GNBS officers are undergoing training to administer this certification program, providing vital support to local businesses.

The 901 certification programme offers comprehensive training to MSMEs, enabling them to meet international management requirements.

Communications Officer Bibi Khatoon revealed that GNBS is currently conducting internal training sessions to familiarize officers with the standards and procedures of the 901 certification programme.

This training ensures that officers interacting with the public and business owners understand the requirements, facilitating a smooth application process.

Khatoon emphasized that the programme will enhance operational performance for entities of all sizes.

Continuous improvement is encouraged, with GNBS working closely with businesses to implement ongoing enhancements in their operations.

The certification developed by GNBS is expected to serve as a catalyst for businesses seeking international accreditation.

It will empower companies to optimize processes, ensure workplace safety, and deliver higher-quality products and services.

As GNBS officers undergo training to administer the 901 certification programme, the initiative is poised to significantly benefit Guyana’s business landscape, promoting excellence and adherence to international standards.
