Essequibo Anacondas and Jaguars Triumph in GCB T10 Blast

In the inaugural matches of the Guyana Cricket Board’s T10 Blast, the Essequibo Anacondas and Essequibo Jaguars emerged victorious.

The tournament, which commenced at the Enmore Community Centre Ground, faced initial setbacks with the first two matches being washed out by rain.

However, the enthusiasm of players and fans alike remained undeterred as the competition finally got underway.

The Essequibo Anacondas showcased their dominance in the opening match against the Berbice Piranhas, securing a convincing six-wicket win in a reduced eight-over game due to inclement weather.

Batting first, the Piranhas managed to muster only 48 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, with Veersammy Permaul contributing a brisk 21 runs.

The Anacondas’ bowling attack, led by Kwesi Mickle and Raymond Perez, proved too formidable for the Piranhas, with Mickle claiming three wickets and Perez achieving a hat-trick.

In response, the Anacondas comfortably chased down the target with Kwesi Mickle leading the charge with 21 runs, supported by Kevon Boodie’s unbeaten eight runs.

In the second match, the Essequibo Jaguars exhibited their prowess against the Berbice Caimans, securing a commanding seven-wicket victory.

Despite the Caimans posting a respectable total of 81 runs, highlighted by Captain Kevlon Anderson’s 26 runs, the Jaguars’ disciplined bowling restricted their opponents.

In the chase, the Jaguars displayed a collective batting effort, with Captain Kemol Savoury’s impressive knock of 29 runs guiding them to victory.

With thrilling performances and competitive matchups, the GCB T10 Blast promises to deliver exciting cricket action for fans.

The tournament is set to continue until May 13, offering plenty of opportunities for teams to showcase their skills and compete for glory.
