Brandon Jaikaran’s Remarkable 400

By Tyriq Walters

In the latest action of the GCA and Friends Second Division two-day tournament, left-handed opener Brandon Jaikaran showcased an extraordinary performance, smashing an unbeaten 400 runs to propel the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) to a resounding victory over Diplomats.

The match began with Diplomats winning the toss and opting to bat first, but their innings was short-lived as they were bowled out for a mere 47 runs in just 13.4 overs.

Rayson Gill was the lone batsman to provide some resistance with 21 runs.

The bowling prowess of Kareem Whitney (4/19) and Mark Cumberbatch (3/28) contributed significantly to DCC’s dominant display.

However, the spotlight was on Brandon Jaikaran, who crafted an incredible innings, remaining unbeaten throughout and amassing a mammoth total of 400 runs.

His remarkable feat came off just 231 balls, adorned with 55 fours and 12 sixes.

Jaikaran found support from Inderjit Nanan, who contributed 116 runs, and twelve-year-old Lomar Seecharan, who scored an impressive 104.

In response, Diplomats struggled once again with the bat, posting an improved but insufficient total of 50 runs in their second innings.

Shemroy Roger Griffith top-scored with 19 runs, while the rest of the batting lineup faltered.

DCC’s bowling attack, led by Johnathan Mentore (3/28) and Mickle Sharma (2/24), proved too much for Diplomats, sealing victory for DCC by an innings and a staggering 568 runs.

Brandon Jaikaran’s exceptional innings not only secured a massive win for DCC but also etched his name in the annals of cricketing history with a truly remarkable achievement.
