SECOND PHASE OF COVID CASH GRANT DISTRIBUTION MOVES TO COASTAL REGIONS

Distribution of the Covid cash grant to secondary households has been completed in the hinterland regions and has now commenced on the coastland.

The grant was announced by President Dr. Irfaan Ali last year and was among several measures designed to bring immediate relief to persons affected by the impact of the deadly Coronavirus.

According to the Local Government Minister Nigel Dharamlall, close to one billion dollars has been allocated for the second phase. Only the primary households had received the grant during the first phase. Secondary households were required to fill out a pink form after which verifications were done so that they can receive their cash grant during this second phase.

If they discarded the pick slip them I’m sorry, I don’t think they should discard it but we have a database of those who filled out the pink slip and that is the database that we are using.” – Minister Dharamlall

He noted that distribution for the second phase of the cash grant has so far been completed in Regions 1, 7, 8 and 9.
