President Irfaan Ali has called for the redoubling of efforts to reduce gender inequalities.
In a statement, he noted that the coronavirus pandemic has exposed startling societal disparities, including gender inequalities noting that women play an integral role in the family and are essential in the transformation of Guyana.
He said the value ascribed to the family unit and its empowerment is essential in women’s advancement, as stronger families are critical in helping women to thrive.
Speaking at the “WE LIFT” exposition on Saturday, the President spoke of plans by his administration to boost businesses that are owned and operated by women.
