A motion was tabled today seeking to have Chief Elections Officer, Keith Lowenfield; his deputy Roxanne Myers, and Region Four Returning Officer, Clairmont Mingo dismissed.
Commissioners Sase Gunraj, Bibi Shaddick and Manooj Narine cited several breaches, explaining that there are enough grounds to support the motion of dismissal for the trio.
In tabling the motion, the commissioners argued that the Secretariat is vested with the powers to remove and exercise disciplinary action against staff.
The commissioners listed several serious violations, Lowenfield reportedly made in connection to the March Two 2020 general elections, including defying instructions to use the recount as the final result.
In the case of Myers, the commissioners claim that she aided and abetted Lowenfield.
On the other hand, they said Mingo breached his statutory duties and obligations, when he failed to ensure that election officers add up votes in compliance with the law.
Lowenfield, Myers and Mingo are currently before the courts facing a number of electoral fraud charges.
