MORE RAINS PREDICTED, NATIONAL EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER ACTIVATED.

Chief Hydromet officer, Dr. Garvin Cummings says Guyana will be affected by tropical storms, which are likely to result in flooding across the various regions.

In light of this, the Civil Defence Commission has officially activated the National Emergency Operations Center.

The CDC reports that over 36 thousand households in 300 communities have been affected by flooding, with 216 citizens relocated to temporary shelters in Regions Two, Five, Nine and Ten.

A supplementary budget of ten billion dollars for flood relief and preparedness was approved by the National Assembly on Monday.

To date, some 20, 484 cleaning hampers and 21, 145 food hampers have been distributed to flood- affected residents countrywide.
