The Guyana Water Incorporated says it will be releasing 157 workers as part of its restructuring plan.
The company says the move is to ensure the efficient and productive management of its daily operations.
Of the 157, seventy- six workers were issued termination letters on Monday and will go off on June 30. The remainder is slated to be released within a three-month period.
GWI insists that due process was followed prior to any decision making and all 76 workers will receive their severance benefits by month end.
It adds that the Board of Directors and Management have been making efforts to place employees in public and private organizations and will continue to engage more entities for this purpose.
