Guatemala pledges support for revitalisation of Guyana’s sugar industry

President Irfaan Ali today held discussions on support for the revitalisation of the sugar industry with his Guatemalan counterpart President Alejandro Giammattei on the side-line of the 4th CARICOM-SICA Summit in Belize.

The Guatemalan President assured the Guyanese leader of his support and said that a high-level technical team will visit Guyana shortly to commence work.

Guatemala is the third-largest producer of sugar, globally.
