GOV’T OUTLINES PLANS FOR NEW EAST COAST WATER TREATMENT PLANT.

Government would be conducting a feasibility study for the construction of a new water treatment plant to serve the East Coast of Demerara.

Housing and Water Minister Colin Croal says the study will be funded by the Caribbean Development Bank.

He says based on the outcome of the study, funds will be made available to construct the new treatment plant, which will source water from the Hope Canal.

The Minister says this is part of an overall plan to improve the delivery of quality water along the East Coast and is in keeping with GWI’s five-year strategic plan.
