Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh, on Sunday, visited several Mandirs across Region Six in observance of Phagwah. He was accompanied by officials from the Regional Democratic Council.
Minister Singh’s first stop was at the Crabwood Creek Mandir, where he met and interacted with residents. He later visited the Springlands and Number 67 Village Mandirs, where he participated in the satsang. Devotees were reminded of the relevance of Phagwah-which marks the triumph of good over evil.
The Finance Minister was pleased to see the large number of young people attending the Mandirs. He urged the adults to continue to ensure their involvement in meaningful activities.
Minister Singh was also in the East Berbice/Corentyne region for a number of community outreaches. On Saturday, he spearheaded the distribution of over 1,000 hampers to residents of Sheet Anchor, Albion and Crabwood Creek, who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
