Waramuri Secondary and West Ruimveldt have both advanced to the quarterfinals of the MILO Schools Football tournament following contrasting victories over the weekend at the Ministry of Education ground.
In their match against Yarowkabra Secondary, Waramuri displayed their dominance, securing a resounding 10-0 win.
The team wasted no time asserting their superiority, with Odell Holmes scoring in the 4th minute.
Goals from Zundel and Denzil Abrams in the 9th and 13th minutes further bolstered Waramuri’s lead in the first half.
The team continued to dominate, adding five more goals before halftime, with Zundel, Holmes, and Marcus Smith finding the back of the net.
The second half saw Waramuri maintain control, adding two more goals in the 51st and 57th minutes to seal the victory.
Denzil Abrams netted four goals, while Holmes completed a hat-trick.
In the featured match of the day, West Ruimveldt secured a 3-1 victory over rivals North Ruimveldt.
Donovan Welcome opened the scoring for West Ruimveldt in the 23rd minute, giving his side a momentary lead before North Ruimveldt equalized in the 40th minute.
In the second half, Elijah Sattaur’s strikes in the 63rd and 70th minutes secured the win for West Ruimveldt.
With these results, Waramuri Secondary and West Ruimveldt have advanced to the quarterfinal stage of the tournament, which will commence on Sunday, April 21, at the Ministry of Education ground.
The quarterfinal matchups include Chase Academy against Bartica Secondary, East Ruimveldt versus President’s College, Ann’s Grove against Waramuri Secondary, and Dolphin Secondary facing off against West Ruimveldt.
