The tournament, which featured 31 teams from various regions across the country, took place at Shanghai’s residence in Amelia’s ward.

Organized by Mark Wiltcher, the senior organizing secretary of the Georgetown Dominoes Association, the event was part of Prime Minister Mark Phillips’ birth anniversary celebrations.

After four games comprising six sittings and following a two-in-one-out format, the tournament concluded around 4:30 a.m. on Monday.

Team Abu Guyana emerged as the champions after winning a total of 52 games, earning them the prestigious title and the Prime Minister’s trophy, along with a cash prize of 700,000 dollars.

In second place was another Georgetown team, “Gold Is Money,” which won 49 games and received a prize of 300,000 dollars.

The third-place position went to Mix Up A, also from Georgetown, who won 150,000 dollars.

Additionally, Mix Up A was awarded the prize for the best-uniformed team, earning an additional 50,000 dollars.

The fourth-place prize of 50,000 dollars was secured by the Playboy team from Berbice.

Prime Minister Mark Phillips, during the inauguration of the tournament in 2022, expressed his commitment to making the event an annual tradition to promote camaraderie among domino enthusiasts.

The tournament not only showcased the skill and competitive spirit of domino players from across Guyana but also provided an opportunity for teams to bond and celebrate the game they love.
