A new wing has been added to the Sophia Primary School, addressing overcrowding and bringing comfort and convenience to both teachers and pupils. The investment was welcomed with one pupil expressing herself through a beautiful poem.

The facility encompasses nine classrooms, a head teacher’s office, two washroom blocks, and an auditorium. There is also a specialised reading room, a library, and a dedicated medical area.

Education Minister Sonia Parag handed over the keys to the new wing to headmistress Sharon Chapman and urged the teachers to master the new technologies reshaping today’s classrooms.

“Leadership matters. It matters in a school. If you don’t have good leadership or if you have weak leadership, you will have a weak school,” she stressed.

Meanwhile, Principal Education Officer Emmanuelle Bridgewater says the investment represents hope that more children will have a comfortable place to study, a space that is more modern and conducive to learning.
