In a bid to enhance the tourism and hospitality experience in Guyana, a British Virgin Islands-based Guyanese entrepreneur is spearheading efforts to revitalize training in bartending.
Colin Campbell, also known as Remy, the proprietor of Riddim Up Bartending School in the BVI, has partnered with local businesses to provide a five-day training program in basic bartending.
Recognizing the crucial role bartenders play in shaping visitors’ experiences, this initiative aims to equip local bartenders with advanced skills and expertise.
Campbell’s initiative comes at a time when Guyana is seeking to strengthen its tourism and hospitality sector.
The training program covers mixology techniques, customer service, responsible alcohol service, and bar management, aiming to elevate the standards of bartending across the country.
The comprehensive courses are designed for aspiring bartenders and individuals considering entering the service industry.
Campbell emphasizes the importance of customer service in creating memorable experiences for patrons and highlights the various career opportunities available within the service industry.
The training also includes modules on garnishing, bar setup, cocktails, bar theory, liqueurs, pouring techniques, and more.
Campbell sees bringing this training back to his homeland as a way of giving back and providing job opportunities and second chances to individuals in Guyana.
Through initiatives like this, Guyana aims to enhance its reputation as a premier tourist destination while fostering economic growth and development in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
