Medical Outreach Benefits Over 200 Berbicians

In a collaborative effort between the Georgetown Rotary Club and the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo), a medical outreach was organized at the Guysuco dispensary in Port Mourant, Berbice, providing essential healthcare services to the community.

The outreach offered a range of services aimed at promoting health and wellness among residents.

These included testing for diabetes, HPV, cervical cancer screening, prostate cancer screening, and vaccination, among others.

Dr. David Persaud, representing the Georgetown Rotary Club, expressed satisfaction with the turnout, stating that over 200 individuals benefited from the services provided.

Dr. Persaud highlighted the importance of addressing prevalent chronic conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes.

He emphasized that many individuals may not be aware of their condition, underscoring the significance of screening efforts in early detection and treatment.

Additionally, the outreach distributed blood pressure and diabetes testing machines, aiming to empower individuals to monitor their health proactively.

The Georgetown Rotary Club is committed to making a lasting impact in the community by supporting initiatives aligned with the government’s vision for healthcare.

Dr. Persaud emphasized the role of such events in raising awareness and encouraging community members to utilize local healthcare services.

By fostering proactive healthcare practices and leveraging government investments in health facilities, initiatives like these contribute to the overall improvement of public health in the country.

The successful medical outreach reflects the dedication of both the Georgetown Rotary Club and GuySuCo to serving the community’s healthcare needs, promoting well-being, and supporting the government’s healthcare agenda.
