Mackenzie High Triumphs Over Christianburg Wismar in R-10 NABORS U17 Basketball Tournament

In a thrilling showdown, Mackenzie High School emerged victorious over Christianburg Wismar Secondary School in the R-10 NABORS U17 Basketball Tournament, with a final score of 42-35.

In the intense championship clash between Mackenzie High School and Christianburg Wismar Secondary School, Mackenzie High displayed exceptional skill and determination, securing not only the championship title but also substantial rewards.

With a generous contribution of $150,000 from philanthropist Nigel Hinds, the tournament offered more than just bragging rights on the court.

Mackenzie High School, as the winning team, received $100,000, a prestigious trophy, replicas, and two basketballs.

Acknowledging the valiant efforts of the First Runner-up, Christianburg Wismar Secondary School, they were awarded a commendable prize of $50,000, along with medals and two basketballs.

Owen France of Mackenzie High School earned the tournament’s MVP title for his outstanding performance, contributing 13 crucial points to his team’s victory. He was honored with a trophy courtesy of Trophy Stall.

The tournament, a collaborative effort among R-10 NABORS, the Department of Education 10, Nigel Hinds, and the Linden Amateur Basketball Association, aimed to promote youth basketball among schools, with contributions from James Brush and Gary Stephens in providing basketballs for the event.
