Linden Gears Up for Clean-Up Ahead of Birth Anniversary Celebrations

By Tracey Liverpool

Linden is set to undergo a transformative facelift as the Riverfront Development Sub-committee prepares for a clean-up exercise ahead of the town’s birth anniversary celebrations.

The clean-up is scheduled for Sunday, April 21, starting at 5:00 am, with a focus on revitalizing the riverfronts of Wismar and Mackenzie.

Led by committee members, the initiative aims to rid the riverfronts of debris and waste, enhancing the town’s natural beauty and environmental sustainability.

Franklyn Kingston, Chairman of the Riverfront Development Sub-Committee, emphasized the importance of community involvement in the effort to clean the riverfronts, urging both private and public sector participation.

The clean-up marks the first phase of the committee’s plan to rejuvenate Linden’s riverfront areas, with additional initiatives planned for the future.

In addition to cleaning the riverfronts, the committee will extend its efforts to the Kara Kara Blue Lake, ensuring the preservation of natural landmarks in the region.

Kingston highlighted the significance of the clean-up ahead of Linden’s town week celebrations, emphasizing the community’s commitment to achieving positive outcomes through collective action.

Established in 2020, the Riverfront Development Sub-committee operates under the umbrella of the Region 10 Tourism Committee, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Linden’s riverfronts and lakes.

Beyond clean-up activities, the committee aims to foster community engagement through sporting events and beautification projects, further enhancing the town’s appeal and sustainability.

As Linden prepares to commemorate its birth anniversary, the clean-up exercise serves as a testament to the community’s dedication to environmental stewardship and the preservation of its natural heritage.
