Hayley Matthews Nominated for ICC Women’s Player of the Month

West Indies women’s cricket captain, Hayley Matthews, has been shortlisted for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for April 2024.

Matthews showcased exceptional performance throughout April, making significant contributions in both T20Is and ODIs against Pakistan.

As a prominent all-rounder, she amassed 325 runs and took six wickets during the ICC Women’s Championship ODI series.

In the T20I series, Matthews scored 126 runs and claimed six wickets as well.

Her outstanding performance earned her four Player of the Match awards, two in ODIs and two in T20Is, along with the Player of the Series title in ODIs.

Under Matthews’ leadership, the West Indies women’s team achieved a remarkable 4-1 victory in the T20 series against Pakistan.

Reflecting on the team’s progress, Matthews expressed her satisfaction with their performance.

During the T20 series, Matthews demonstrated exceptional batting skills, scoring a combined total of 205 runs with an impressive average of 41.

She also showcased her bowling prowess by securing seven wickets with an average of 15.28 runs.

Matthews’ nomination for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award recognizes her outstanding achievements and contributions to the sport, further solidifying her reputation as a talented and influential player in women’s cricket.
