Guyana-Trinidad Trade Mission Promotes Collaboration Over Competition

In a bid to strengthen bilateral ties and foster economic growth, the Guyana Office for Investment (Go-Invest) has encouraged businesses from Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago to collaborate rather than compete.

The two-day trade mission organized by the Trinidadian Chamber of Commerce to Guyana aims to facilitate the expansion of connections, market reach, and the establishment of strategic partnerships between businesses in both countries.

With a delegation of 16 companies from Trinidad representing various sectors

including construction, food, and information and communication technology (ICT), the mission underscores the mutual interest in exploring new avenues for cooperation.

Senior Director of Go-Invest, John Edghill, emphasized the importance of shifting away from competition within the region towards collaboration on a global scale.

He highlighted the need for Guyanese and Trinidadian businesses to join forces to enhance their competitiveness in the global market, rather than driving each other out through unnecessary rivalry.

Trinidad and Tobago’s High Commissioner to Guyana, Conrad Enill, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the abundance of opportunities in Guyana for economic development.

He underscored the potential for both countries to leverage their respective expertise and resources to foster mutual growth and prosperity.

Facilitating this collaboration, the Center for Local Business Development (CLBD) is working closely with the Trinidad Chamber of Industry and Commerce to establish smart partnerships between local and Trinidadian businesses.

Over the course of the two-day mission, participants will engage in discussions, networking sessions, and business matchmaking activities aimed at fostering long-term partnerships and enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations.

As Guyana continues its trajectory of economic expansion and development, initiatives like the Guyana-Trinidad trade mission play a vital role in promoting cross-border collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth.
