Guyana Energy Agency Hosts ‘EV Show & Tell’ Exhibition to Promote Sustainable Transportation

Guyanese had the opportunity to engage with industry experts in electric vehicles (EVs) during the Guyana Energy Agency’s (GEA) inaugural ‘EV Show & Tell Exhibition.’

The event aimed to raise awareness about Guyana’s transition to a low-carbon and sustainable transportation sector.

Prime Minister Mark Phillips, a leading advocate for the development and expansion of the electric vehicle industry under the Low Carbon Development Strategy, emphasized the importance of reducing Guyana’s carbon footprint.

He highlighted the role of renewable energy in not only contributing to the economy but also positioning Guyana as a leader in energy and climate security.

The exhibition, hosted by GEA, provided insights into the EV industry and outlined plans for improving accessibility to charging ports and maintenance services.

Electric vehicle owners shared their daily experiences, expressing appreciation for the convenience and efficiency of EVs compared to traditional vehicles.

In a significant development, Massy Motors, the sole distributor of the Morris Garage Motors brand in Guyana, launched the MG 4 Electric Vehicle and MG ZS Ev in the market.

This initiative reflects a growing interest in EVs in Guyana, with approximately 200 electric vehicle users in the country.

The event underscored the importance of transitioning towards sustainable transportation solutions and showcased the potential for Guyana to embrace renewable energy technologies to mitigate climate change and promote environmental sustainability.
