The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), under the leadership of President Godfrey Munroe, has announced the selection of a strong junior squad to compete in the upcoming Junior Caribbean Table Tennis Championship.
Scheduled to take place from April 23rd to 29th in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the youth championship will see young talents from across the Caribbean region showcasing their skills on the table tennis court.
The GTTA is optimistic about the performance of the selected squad and aims to replicate or even surpass previous medal-winning achievements in the competition.
Led by coach Linden Johnson, the junior squad is set to depart for the championship next week, where they will face tough competition from other participating countries.
Funding for the team’s participation has been secured through contributions from various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, the National Sports Commission, and the Guyana Olympic Association.
Among the confirmed countries participating in the championship are Barbados, Trinidad, Aruba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, and St Lucia.
With the support of experienced coaching staff and backing from national sports organizations, the GTTA junior squad is poised to represent Guyana with determination and skill at the Junior Caribbean Table Tennis Championship.
