Christopher Gaskin, a seasoned coach with years of experience, is gearing up his athletes from the Mercury Fast Laners Athletics Club for success at upcoming local tournaments.

In an interview with NCN’s Tyriq Walters, Gaskin shared insights into the club’s training regimen and aspirations for the future.

Based at the New Campbellville Secondary School for over 16 years, the Mercury Fast Laners Athletics Club primarily consists of school-aged students from the Campbellville area.

Under Gaskin’s guidance, the club has become a hub for nurturing athletic talent and fostering a passion for track and field.

Currently, the focus of the club is on preparing athletes for upcoming events organized by the Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG) and the Kids Athletics Program in collaboration with the Department of Sports.

Gaskin emphasized the importance of these programs in the development of track and field athletes, highlighting the potential for young athletes to excel with discipline and dedication.

In interviews with NCN Sport, some of the athletes reflected on their journey and growth within the club.

They emphasized the values of discipline and patience instilled by their training regimen, acknowledging the gradual improvement in their skills and performance over time.

The Mercury Fast Laners club welcomes children between the ages of eight to 18 who are interested in honing their athletic abilities.

Parents keen on enrolling their children in the club can visit the New Campbellville Secondary School on weekdays from 15:30 to 17:30.

As Coach Gaskin continues to mentor and train young athletes, the Mercury Fast Laners aim to leave a mark at local track and field meets, showcasing their talent and dedication to the sport.
