Caimans, Piranhas, and Pitbulls Triumph in GCB T10 Blast Tournament

Over the weekend, the Meten-Meer-Zorg Ground on the West Coast of Demerara witnessed thrilling cricket action as the Berbice Caimans, Berbice Piranhas, and Demerara Pit Bulls emerged victorious in the Guyana Cricket Board’s T10 Blast tournament.

The weekend’s matches kicked off with a triple-header at one of Guyana’s newest premier cricket venues, the Meten-Meer-Zorg Ground.

In the first match, the Berbice Caimans showcased their dominance by defeating the Demerara Hawks by 29 runs.

Batting first, the Caimans posted an impressive total of 148 runs for the loss of three wickets in their allotted 10 overs.

Alex Algoo’s explosive knock of 80 runs, supported by Kevin Sinclair’s 33, set the stage for their victory.

Despite a spirited effort from the Hawks, led by Rampertab Ramnauth’s quickfire 40 runs, they fell short, managing only 119 runs.

In the second match, the Berbice Piranhas secured a convincing 50-run win over the Essequibo Jaguars.

The Piranhas posted a formidable total of 143 runs in their ten overs, with Quentin Sampson leading the charge with an unbeaten 83 runs.

In response, the Jaguars could only muster 93 runs, with Captain Kemol Savoury and Chanderpaul Hemraj being the main contributors.

The final match of the day witnessed a clash between two Demerara sides, with the Demerara Pit Bulls emerging victorious against the Demerara Hawks.

Batting first, the Hawks posted 73 runs, with Akshaya Persaud’s 46 runs being the highlight.

However, the Pit Bulls chased down the target with ease, scoring the required runs with eight wickets in hand.

The Guyana Cricket Board T10 Blast tournament promises more thrilling encounters and will continue until May 13.
