The inaugural Guyana Cricket Board T10 Blast kicked off with an electrifying start at the Malteenoes Sports Club Ground, where the Essequibo Anacondas and the Demerara Pit Bulls emerged victorious in thrilling encounters.

Under sunny skies and on a challenging pitch, the Malteenoes Sports Club Ground witnessed gripping cricket action that enthralled spectators.

In the opening match, the Essequibo Anacondas secured a nail-biting victory against the Essequibo Jaguars by the narrowest of margins, winning by just one run.

Batting first, the Anacondas posted a competitive total of 73 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allocated ten overs.

Abdul Ramsammy’s explosive innings of 35 runs from 15 balls, supported by Joshua Jones, set the tone for the Anacondas’ innings.

Despite a valiant effort from the Jaguars, led by Chanderpaul Hemraj’s blistering 39 runs from 16 balls, they fell agonizingly short, managing only 72 runs in their pursuit of 74.

Abdul Ramsammy’s all-round performance, both with bat and ball, proved crucial in securing the victory for the Anacondas.

In the second match, the Demerara Pit Bulls outclassed the Berbice Piranhas, clinching victory by 14 runs.

The Pit Bulls posted a formidable total of 93 runs in their ten overs, with Sachin Singh leading the charge with the bat.

In response, the Piranhas could only muster 79 runs, falling short of the target despite notable contributions from Rajiv Ivan and Rickey Sergent.

The Pit Bulls’ bowling attack, spearheaded by Leon Swammy, Christopher Barnwell, and Keon Sinclair, proved too strong for the Piranhas, securing victory for their team.

The tournament, promising more thrilling encounters, is set to continue until May 13, showcasing the excitement of T10 cricket in Guyana.
