In observance of International Day of Families today, the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security hosted a Family Support and Wellness Fair at the Umana Yana. The event brought together school children and families for a day of engagement, learning and support.

Held under the theme Families, Inequalities and Child Wellbeing, the event highlighted the importance of strong family units and access to support systems that promote healthy communities.

The Ministry emphasised that families remain the foundation of society and play a critical role in shaping the well-being of children and communities.

Human Services Minister Dr. Vindhya Persaud says strong and stable families require support, understanding and involvement from everyone.

And in this regard, she used the opportunity to highlight the role of the Family Enhancement Services Section of the Ministry.

“You can go in there, any member of a family, and say, look, we need help. That’s all. We need help. And we are prepared to work, and we have been working, with families across the country. Our mission is to expand our services so that we can have bases in every region,” she said.

The Ministry will also host activities throughout Family Month 2026 to celebrate and support families.
