Linden Mayor and Town Council Approves $6 Million for Road Repairs

February 6, 2025

The Linden Mayor and Town Council has approved the commencement of road repairs along Sir David Rose Avenue, utilizing funds generated from the Kara Kara toll booth.

This decision was made during the first statutory meeting of the council for 2025, held on February 5.

At the meeting, the financial committee, led by Mayor Sharma Solomon, presented recommendations to allocate approximately $6 million for road repairs, including work on Sir David Rose Avenue and other roads in need of urgent attention.

Mayor Solomon highlighted that 10% of the toll booth’s earnings are dedicated to road patching, and with a current balance of over $6 million, the finance committee proposed immediate action to address the deteriorating conditions.

Solomon also urged councilors to be mindful of the road repair needs in their respective constituencies.

The mayor emphasized that the council’s Works Department has the necessary materials and workforce to begin repairs immediately.

One of the most damaged areas, from the Five Corners to the Kara Kara Toll Booth, has been plagued by numerous potholes caused by heavy rain and the passage of heavy-duty trucks.

The repairs will be a welcomed relief for local drivers, who have faced difficulty navigating the road in its current state.
