Rose to Lead Guyana’s National Basketball Team in Suriname

The Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF) has officially announced its 12-member squad for the upcoming Nation’s Cup tournament in Suriname, with seasoned guard Stanton Rose set to captain the team.

Head Coach Adrian Hooper, alongside Assistant Coach Marlon Rodrigues, will guide the national side as they prepare for a series of competitive matchups against Grenada and hosts Suriname from January 24 to 26.

The team departs for Paramaribo on Thursday, January 23, and will return to Guyana on Monday, January 27.

Coach Hooper described the selection process as highly competitive, emphasizing the impressive talent on display during trials.

He believes the final roster strikes the right balance between experienced veterans and emerging young stars, with players like Kimol Grimmond already making strides in adapting to international competition.

GBF President Michael Singh expressed confidence in the team, highlighting the tournament’s significance for the country’s basketball development.

He stated that with a well-rounded squad, Guyana is poised for a strong performance on the regional stage.
