Team Linden narrowly defeated Georgetown to win the ExxonMobil Youth Relay Championship held at the National Track and Field Centre on Sunday.
The competition was intense, with Linden securing victory by just two points.
In the Boys U16 4x200m Relay, Berbice emerged as the top performer with a time of 6:49.13, edging out Linden and West Demerara, who clocked in at 6:49.16 and 6:49.13, respectively.
The Girls U16 4x200m Relay saw Georgetown take first place with a time of 7:03.33.
Similarly, Georgetown’s Boys U20 4x200m Relay team continued their winning streak, finishing first with a time of 7:03.32.
In the Girls U20 4x200m Relay, Georgetown claimed top honors with a time of 6:56.29.
The Sprint Medley events were thrilling, with Linden’s Boys U16 team and Georgetown’s Boys U20 team coming out on top.
In the Girls U16 category, Linden secured first place, while Georgetown dominated the Girls U20 event.
Linden showcased their prowess in the 4x400m Boys U16 relay, finishing first with a time of 3:41.20.
Berbice and Georgetown followed in second and third places, respectively.
The Girls U20 4x400m relay saw Berbice claim victory, with Georgetown and West Demerara rounding out the top three.
At the end of the championship, Linden topped the points table with 172 points, followed by Georgetown with 170 points, Berbice with 138 points, and West Demerara with 99 points.
