TSU Tops Annual Guyana Police Force Route March

The Tactical Services Unit (TSU) has emerged as the standout contingent in the Guyana Police Force’s 185th annual route march, held recently in Georgetown.

With a record-breaking participation of 28 contingents and over two thousand personnel, this year’s parade marked the largest in the force’s history.

The TSU showcased exceptional discipline and coordination, securing the coveted title of best contingent.

Following closely behind, the GPF Headquarters Female contingent claimed the first runner-up position, while the male unit of the Presidential Guard took the second runner-up spot.

Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn, expressed satisfaction with the parade’s display, emphasizing its reflection of the force’s unity and strength.

He praised the ongoing improvements and dedication within the force, highlighting recent enhancements like the acquisition of new vehicles.

Acting Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken, extended gratitude to the participating officers and their families, noting the increased public support and turnout compared to previous years.

He emphasized the importance of community involvement in modern policing practices.

In addition to cash prizes and trophies awarded to top contenders, special recognition was given to youth participants, community policing groups, and scout units.

The event also featured diverse units such as the Marine, Canine Unit, Mounted Branch, and Private Security Services, underscoring the force’s comprehensive approach to public safety.

The annual route march serves as a significant occasion for the Guyana Police Force, showcasing their commitment to continuous improvement and community engagement.
