The Helpful Hands Youth Group has emerged as this year’s winner of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition.
The exciting finals were held in the Chambers of the Parliament Building, where the Child Rights Ambassadors Youth Group faced off against the Helpful Hands Youth Group in an engaging and thought-provoking debate.
The moot for the final debate was: “Prioritizing infrastructure development in Guyana is essential for fostering regional growth and connectivity.”
Jayda Overton from the proposing team, the Child Rights Ambassadors Youth Group, argued passionately in favor of prioritizing infrastructure development in Guyana to maximize welfare and foster growth.
Nygil Drepaul from the Helpful Hands Youth Group, who was adjudged the best speaker for the final debate, argued against the moot.
He emphasized the importance of focusing on a broader range of priorities rather than just infrastructure development, advocating for a more balanced approach to long-term and stable growth.
All qualifying teams from the rounds of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024 have earned their places in the 9th Annual Youth Parliament.
