Quentin Sampson, Asmeed Nedd, and Veerasammy Permaul Shine in GCB T10 Blast

The Guyana Cricket Board’s inaugural T10 Blast witnessed outstanding performances from Quentin Sampson, Asmeed Nedd, and Veerasammy Permaul, who emerged as the best batter and bowlers in the thrilling tournament.

Quentin Sampson showcased his batting prowess by amassing 234 runs in nine matches, including two half-centuries, with an impressive average of 39 and a striking rate of 260.

His highest score of 83 runs exemplified his batting brilliance on the field.

Joining Sampson as top performers with the bat were Alex Algoo (203 runs), Damian Vantull (189 runs), Akshaya Persaud (179 runs), and Christopher Barnwell (170 runs), each making significant contributions to their respective teams.

On the bowling front, Asmeed Nedd and veteran off-spinner Veerasammy Permaul stood out with their remarkable performances.

Nedd claimed thirteen wickets, boasting the best bowling figures of the tournament with an impressive 4 wickets for 6 runs, while also registering the most dot balls (47).

Permaul, on the other hand, showcased his bowling expertise by taking four wickets for 24 runs with a remarkable bowling strike rate of 6.9.

Other notable bowlers in the tournament included Barnwell, Keon Sinclair, Garfield Phillips, and Anthony Adams, who all made significant contributions with their bowling skills.

Additionally, two hat-tricks were recorded during the tournament, one by Devon Lord of the Berbice Caimans and the other by Raymond Perez of the Essequibo Anacondas, adding to the excitement of the event.

The GCB T10 Blast commenced on April 24 and concluded on May 13, culminating in an exhilarating final match where the Christopher Barnwell-led Demerara Pitbulls emerged victorious by defeating the Essequibo Jaguars by a narrow two-wicket margin.

As the curtains fall on the inaugural edition of the GCB T10 Blast, cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipate more thrilling action and stellar performances in future editions of this exciting tournament.
