ExxonMobil Under-14 Football Tournament Rescheduled to May 25

By Eric Collymore

The ExxonMobil Under-14 football tournament has been postponed to May 25 due to a high number of team applications.

This decision was made to accommodate all interested participants.

At a recent team briefing, Troy Mendonca, co-director of the Petra organization, highlighted the necessity of the delay to ensure all teams can participate in the tournament.

Towanna McAlmont from the Allied Arts Department of the Ministry of Education expressed satisfaction with the tournament’s growth, noting that it provides excellent opportunities for young athletes.

The tournament will now feature over 30 boys’ teams and 20 girls’ teams.

The most valuable players in both categories will receive school supplies for a year, sponsored by the Petra organization.

Additionally, the cash prizes designated for school grants are set at 400,000 dollars for the first place, 200,000 dollars for the second, 100,000 dollars for the third, and 75,000 dollars for the fourth.

The reigning champions, the Bartica boys and the Waramuri Top girls, will return to defend their titles.
