Guyana is gearing up to host its first-ever Cuban-Latin American festival, “Fiesta Cubana,” aimed at celebrating the vibrant tapestry of Latin American culture while fostering travel and cross-cultural interaction.
Scheduled to take place on May 5 at Georgetown’s Promenade Gardens, the event promises attendees a day filled with Latin American cuisine, beverages, music, dancing, and cultural festivities.
The driving force behind Fiesta Cubana is the integration of the Latino minority community into Guyanese society.
Waynewright Orderson, CEO of Global Tours and Travel Company, shared insights on the event’s significance during an interview with NCN News.
“Persons coming to the Promenade Gardens on May 5th can expect a full immersion into the Cuban and Latin American lifestyle because we will be having cultural activities, games, food, and drinks all with an authentic Latin American theme,” Orderson explained.
Organizers aspire for Fiesta Cubana to become a staple event on Guyana’s calendar, fostering cultural exchange and social cohesion. Orderson emphasized the event’s role in promoting unity, stating, “The president as well has been pushing a One Guyana initiative, and we believe this is a major component that could help with bringing together all Guyanese, even the most recent persons who have joined Guyana as migrants.”
Beyond celebration, Fiesta Cubana aims to showcase Latin America and Cuba as new business and recreational hubs for Guyanese citizens, further strengthening ties between the nations.
As preparations for the festival continue, anticipation builds for a day of vibrant celebration and cultural exchange, uniting communities in the spirit of Latin American heritage.
