Region Six Prepares for Rainy Season under Chairman David Armogan’s Leadership

By Royan Abrams

Region Six is gearing up to minimize flooding in both residential and farming areas during the upcoming rainy season, according to assurances provided by Region Six Chairman David Armogan during a recent media engagement.

With early forecasts predicting significant rainfall, the regional administration is actively working to ensure that drainage systems are in optimal condition to mitigate flooding risks.

Chairman Armogan highlighted that work has already commenced at strategic locations to prepare for the anticipated rainfall.

However, Armogan emphasized that the drainage system is designed to handle only a limited amount of water, capable of removing approximately an inch and a half every 24 hours.

Despite this limitation, efforts are underway to clear channels and prevent blockages.

The Chairman acknowledged that many outfalls are currently clogged, necessitating ongoing clearing contracts.

He explained that clearing operations are timed to coincide with the rainy season to prevent rapid siltation buildup after dredging.

To address areas prone to water accumulation, pumps have been installed across the region as part of proactive measures.

As preparations continue, Chairman Armogan assured residents of Region Six that efforts are underway to minimize the impact of heavy rainfall and potential flooding.
